Palathalikalu is a traditional sweet recipe from Andhra pradesh. These are made with rice noodles, jaggery and milk. Rice noodles boil in milk. It is a special recipe offered as naivedyam not only for vinayaka chavithi / ganesh chaturthi, but also for other festivals as well.
I made this recipe by the help of my mom as i like her way of making palathalikalu very much. my mom usually makes this recipe regularly at my childhood.
It is a specially from andhra. Once you taste this recipe you can not forget the taste of this recipe. And you will make this regularly. If you prepare this when guests come to your home they will surely praise you.

For thalikala dough / noodles dough:
- Rice flour – 1 cup
- salt – 1/4 tbsp
- Rice flour – 1 cup
- Ghee – 2 tbsp
- Almonds – 1 tbsp
- Cashew – 1 tbsp
- Water – 2 cups
- Sabudana – 1/4th cup
- Milk – 500ml
- Coconut slices – 1/2 cup
- Cardamom powder – 1 tbsp
- Salt – 1/4th tbsp
- Jaggery – 1/2 cup
- Sugar – 1/2 cup
- Safforn – for garnishing
Step 1 In a bowl take 1 cup of rice flour, Salt and 3/4th cup of hot water and prepare dough
Step 2 Do not make dough as chapathi dough, It should little loose than chapathi dough. Keep this aside
Step 3 Roast golden cashew and almonds in 2 tbsp of ghee and keep aside
Step 4In a kadai add 2 cups of water and 1/4th cup of sabudana / saggubiyyam to it and stir once
Step 5 Let the sabudana cook for atleast 7 minutes so that it well cook well.
Step 6 After 7 minutes add 500ml of full cream milk and let it boil. You can use toned milk as well but full cream milk will improves the taste of this recipe.
Step 7 Now take hald full of prepared dough and insert into murukku maker .
Step 8 Now press this murukku maker into the boiling milk. Do not stir. Just close the lid
Step 9Leave this for 5 minutes.
Step 10 Now add Coconut slices, cardamom powder, salt to it stir carefully.
Step 11 Add Jaggery, Sugar, Mix well and leave for 20 sec and turn off. do not leave more than 30 sec after adding jaggery because jaggery makes milk curdles on flame.
Step 12 Switch off and serve after cool down.
Step 13 Ganesh chaturthi special pala thalikalu is ready. enjoy this andhra style recipe. very tasty…
