Rava Kesari / Kesari Bath is a popular South Indian Sweet made with Suji/Semolina/ravva, sugar, ghee and few cashew nuts. I thick everybody knows this recipe making. It is one of the easiest sweet anyone can make. But If you follow our tips and measurements then you will get a delicious output that everyone give you Compliments for sure. This is once of my favourite recipe. I regularly prepare this kesari in my home.
You can made this recipe in just 20 mins. It is eaten as a festival special or in gettogather parties as a after meal desert. This is offered as a naivedyam to the gods like in dasara, ganesh chturthi, navratri or any festivals and auspicious days.This is also called as sheera or suji halwa.In Karnataka and Maharashtra states it is called as sheera. But they dont use color.In karnataka states it is pretty much served with a meal palte and in a breakfast plate in most of tiffin centers.
Just made this ravva kesari without any unhealthy food colors. If you want you can use saffron milk to this. The main key ingredients to be in perfect ratio is rava, water and ghee. Stirring continuously ravva / bombay rava is very important step to prevent lumps. We can use milk instead if water to make this recipe. Milk also improves the taste of kesari.

Ravva Kesari Recipe Card

- Suji / ravva / semolina – 1/2 cup
- water 1.5 cup
- Ghee / clarified butter – 1/2 cup
- Cashew – 4 tbsp
- Raisins – 2 tbsp
- Sugar – 2/3rd cup
- Saffon color – 1tbsp
- salt – pinch
- cardamom powder – 1 tbsp
Step 1 Take 1/4th cup of ghee in a pan and add 4tbsp of cashew and 2 tbsp of raisins and roast for 2 min
Step 2 Roast on medium flame, Once raisins puffed and cashew turns golden color switch off the flame.
Step 3 Transfer roasted dry fruits into a bowl
Step 4 In the same pan add 1/2 cup of Suji / ravva and roast well
Step 5 Roast for 2 min on medium flame. Do not burn ravva. once roasted slightly keep aside
Step 6 Take another kadai and add one and half cup of water and boil
Step 7 Once water boiling add roasted ravva and stir well
Step 8 Stir continuously to avoid lumps
Step 9 after 1 min ravva absorbs the water and thickens
Step 10 Now add 2/3rd cup of sugar and mix well..
Step 11 Sugar syrup generates loosens and ravva again, keep stirring for 2 minutes
Step 12 After 2 min thickens the ravva, Now add roasted dry fruits, saffron color, pinch of salt, cardamom powder, and ghee to it
Step 13 Mix all ingredents and combine well
Step 14 Ghee releases and separates the pan.
Step 15 Tasty tasty ravva kesari is ready to serve. For good looking of serving transfer into a small bowl and then place into a plate.
Step 16 Ravva kesari / Kesari bath is ready. Festival special.
