Daddojanam / dadyodhanam is a traditional tampered rice from south india. It is also called as thayir sadam and bagala bath as per regional language in south india. This recipe is prepared in temple style naivedyam.This is especially made in dasara navaratri to offer as naivedyam to godess durga.

Different temples follows different types of methods to prepare this daddojanam. But here im sharing usual method followed in big temples. My method of preparing daddojanam will remain fresh long hours without any sour. It is also a very tasty and healthy recipe for lunch box and for long travel as well.

Use only sona masuri rice to prepare this recipe and do not made with basmati rice. Because we can mash smooth sona masuri rice, but basmati rice will not turn into that much smooth. It is one of the creamy and tasty complete meal recipe. Basically most of the south indians finish their meals with a scoop of curd rice. Because it helps to reduce body temperature after having a spicy meal.

INGREDIENTS

  • Rice – 1/2 cup
  • water – 2 cups
  • Milk – 1/2 cup
  • Fresh curd – 1 cup
  • Salt – 1 tbsp
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Mustard – 1 tbsp
  • Cumin – 1 tbsp
  • Pepper – 1 tbsp
  • Chanadal – 1 tsp
  • Urad dal – 1 tbsp
  • Ginger- 1 tbsp , chopped
  • red chillies – 1 tbsp , chopped
  • Dried red chillies – 3
  • Curry leaves – few
  • Hing – 1/2 tbsp, optional

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1 Take 1/2 cup of rice and rinse with water. Add rice to pressure cooker

Step 2 Pour 2 cups of water and close lid

Step 3 Let the rice cook upto four whistles and switch off

Step 4 After cool completely open the lid and mash the rice with masher very smooth and soft

Step 5 Trasnfer the mashed rice to a bowl

Step 6 Add 1/2 cup of milk (boiled),cream milk will improve the taste of this recipe

Step 7 Mash and mix well until rice absorbed the milk

Step 8 Now add 1 tbsp of salt, one and half cup of fresh yogurt

Step 9 Mix well. Now the mixture is looks like soft and creamy.

Step 10 In a pan add oil, mustard, jeera, urad dal, chanadal, ginger, greenchillies, pepper, curry leaves, dried red chillies and hing

Step 11 saute 1 min till aromatic
